February 24th 2012, York, UK – The First Nation Home race sees four national celebrity and sports personality teams race over 1000 miles around the UK to raise money for Sport Relief from the 10th to the 17th March. Teams representing England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland will start at their nation’s capital and will run, row, cycle and sail their way clockwise around the UK. Sport Relief raised £42m in 2010, helping to change lives in the UK and the developing world.
To ensure the teams are able to stay in contact and keep their audience up-to-date, Cellhire is providing the essential short-term communications kit they will need including mobile phones, mobile Wi-Fi and satellite phones for when the teams are off the beaten track.
Cellhire mobile internet devices will allow the teams to easily set up personal Wi-Fi hotspots wherever they are in the United Kingdom, enabling the teams to update Facebook and Twitter via a smartphone, tablet or laptop.
Tim Williams Cellhire CEO says, “It’s a great cause to be supporting and we’re thrilled to be selected to provide communications for the event. Our latest devices are small and light making them ideal for a touring challenge where space and weight are so precious.”
The general public can join the teams in their respective capital cities on March 25th for the climatic final leg of the challenge, a six mile run to the finish line.
Cameron Mather, First Nation Home Challenge Director said, “We are delighted to be working with Cellhire during our event. Cellhire’s excellent reputation for reliability and support was important to us when considering the safety of our teams and how important reliable communications are during an event such as ours.”
