Children’s clothes retailers are poised for a seasonal revival in the childrenswear and baby clothes market, as many clothes labels have now released their new Spring season collections.
After a long and cold winter, and a tough few months for retailers, the weather is finally beginning to warm up and with it the promise of a resurgence in sales of baby clothes and children’s fashion.
This Spring season brings with it an abundance of new trends, and the choice of boys clothes and girls clothes is plentiful. Here are a few top tips for the season to help mums and dads navigate their way through the wonderful world of Spring clothing designers and Spring 2012 fashions.
Childrenswear: What’s On Trend This Season?
• Bright and Bold Prints – This Spring, bold patterns and brightly coloured prints have brought a fresh new energy to clothes for boys and girls: a welcome relief from the long dark winter days and nights that children will love.
• Clashing Colours and Colour Blocking – Putting mixed bold colours and clashing patterns next to each other is all the rage this season, as seen all over the catwalks at London Fashion Week. Happily, it makes dressing young children very easy, as you can mix and match in new and unusual ways. Let the kids have some fun with mixing their clothes up a bit, and don’t worry about layering up mismatched clothes.
• Layering – Speaking of layering, this is another handy and practical way of dressing boys and girls this season, and very fashionable this season. While the Spring weather is still fresh, layering keeps children warm as the air traps between the fabric layers, and temperature for very young children has be easily regulated by remove of baby clothes layers.
• Ruffles – Look out for ruffles in girls clothes this season. Girls will love the frills and fun of layered skirts and feminine edging that can be seen on many of this seasons childrenswear and girls clothes.
Flower power and fun motifs – Floral patterns and quirky motifs are very ‘on-trend’ this season. Following the prescient set by this season’s top designers, flower power is back, and many girls clothes are having fun with this fashionable element. Look out for blocking of floral patterns next to other colours (especially in those ruffles and frills).
