Los Angeles, CA, March 09, 2012 - Lucky Kat TV will partner with Michele Fellows, owner of Sweet Alexis Bakery, to deliver tips, information and advice on Lucky Kat TV’s blog, ( http://luckykattv.com/parents-blog/ ) empowering and connecting parents coping with food allergies in some 3 million children across the United States.
According to the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN):
* Food allergies are on the rise; more than 12 million Americans have food allergies. That’s one in 25, or 4 percent of the population.
* Eight foods account for 90 percent of all food-allergic reactions in the U.S.: milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, wheat, soy, fish, and shellfish.
* Peanut allergies doubled in children over a five-year period (1997-2002), and food allergies are present the most in young children – one in 17 among those under age 3.
Sweet Alexis, located in Los Osos, California, serves up fresh, homemade cookies, breads, cakes and muffins free of wheat, dairy, tree-nuts and eggs and their derivatives. Fellows named the business for her now 10 years old daughter, Alexis, who suffers from life-threatening food allergies and asthma.
“We have to be vigilant 24/7 to keep Alexis safe. Even casual contact with an allergen could send her into anaphylactic shock. I opened Sweet Alexis to offer her, and other families, delicious, attractive treats they could pack in lunches and bring to parties,” said Fellows.

She’s turned her passion for creating allergen-free treats into a thriving business, and also created a platform for increased awareness in her community. Lucky Kat TV.com, an “edutainment” website, offers a safe, secure place for children ages 5 – 10 to learn, play, and create video content to share. During their journey through Katalina Island, children board a cruise ship and navigate the continents, earning points to build their own islands and add the amenities of their choice.
