Bilingual speakers have always been much sought after by employers but this year the demand has increased further.
Unemployment stands at 8.4% in the UK, the highest it has been for 17 years. This means there is high competition for jobs and companies are searching for people who can add a little extra to their workforce. Bilingual speakers fit into this category and find themselves being increasingly attractive to potential employers.
Globalisation, through the internet, mobile phones and satellite TV has also brought with it an increase in the need for bilingual and multilingual speakers. Large companies now operate on a global scale and they need their staff to communicate with clients on the same basis.
