Cornell University Veterinary Specialists (CUVS) is the largest university-affiliated veterinary referral center in the country. CUVS redefines specialty and emergency veterinary medicine by bringing together the best of specialty private practice with the best of academia to benefit pets, owners, and the veterinary profession.
CUVS is committed to providing compassionate, expert, and individually tailored care for all of their patients. It is their belief that the wellness and healing of a family pet is best done through a cooperative approach between owner, primary care veterinarian, support staff, specialist, and most importantly, the patient. All together they provide veterinary services that ensure wagging tails and purrs of delight for your four-legged family members for years to come
CUVS works under the direction of the Dean of Cornell University's top-ranked College of Veterinary Medicine. While maintaining a separate infrastructure, staff, and facility, CUVS has a close affiliation with Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, collaborating closely on student training, patient care, clinical discovery and continuing education.
The veterinary hospital offers an extensive set of veterinary treatment services which includes cardiology, emergency & critical care, ophthalmology, oncology, internal medicine, minimally invasive procedures, and orthopedic and soft tissue surgery. "We also perform advanced diagnostic imaging for a better understanding of your pet's condition. The specialty imaging options we provide include digital radiographs, CT scans, echocardiograms, fluoroscopy, and angiography", added Dr. Susan Hackner, Chief Medical Officer.
The hospital is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with experienced veterinarians on staff at all times. Their ICU and Emergency Service are run by board-certified critical care specialists, offering not only after-hours availability, but unparalleled emergency and critical care expertise.
Providing educational programs for veterinary students, residents, pet owners, and area veterinarians constitutes another core mission of CUVS. Clinical externships are offered for veterinary students from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine and from other veterinary schools. However, patients at CUVS are only treated by experienced specialists - not by trainees.
The veterinary hospital in Connecticut has already earned a long list of grateful clients, and most of them have praised the veterinary specialty center for its outstanding care and advanced treatment.
