Obamacare Could Affect Hair Loss Drug PrescriptionsFeatured PR

Obamacare could possibly skyrocket the cost of a popular drug called Finasteride. Finasteride is used as a treatment for hair loss and Prostatitis under the names Propecia and Proscar respectively
Philadelphia, PA, United States of America (prbd.net) 03/08/2012
http://www.hairlosshaven.com/provillus/ reports that some patients currently being prescribed the hair loss drug Propecia might be affected by the new healthcare regulations created by the Obama administration.

In this post, James Briggs states that under Obamacare doctors could be prevented from prescribing medications to certain patients because of "accountable care organizations". "It's a possibility that a doctor could be prevented from prescribing a drug like Propecia by these ACOs for various reasons. It might be because of possible safety concerns, side effects, or reported negative interactions with other drugs. They could just decide that you are taking too many drugs in general and deny you Propecia because of that."

The author also states that there is an added tax on brand-name drugs. "Currently Propecia isn't legally available in the US in generic form. So there is no way to get around a tax that could potentially increase your prescription drug costs considerably."

He's goes on to mention that you could import the generic form from Canada. "You could get generic Finasteride from Canada, but then you are playing fast and loose with the rules. It's also dangerous getting your prescription drugs from online pharmacies."

"There is a lot of confusion about Obamacare. It is very hard to find a source of information that isn't politically biased. You look at one website that tells you that Obamacare decreases prescription drug costs and another one will tell you that Obamacare does the exact opposite." says Briggs.

Briggs also talks about the difficulty in doing your own research when it comes to polarizing issues. "Anyone that tells you to go out and do your own research, as if it's that simple, has been living under a rock for the last five or six years. There is no source that's considered unbiased by everyone. No matter what source you manage to dig up there will always be someone out there that says it's biased and unreliable." says the author.

Fortunately, there is another hair loss drug that doesn't require a prescription and won't ever be subjected to any new drug taxes. The author recommends that you try an over the counter treatment called Provillus. http://www.provillusr.com Provillus contains minoxidil, which is the only other drug specifically approved by the FDA for the treatment of hair loss.

The website also mentions other alternatives to Propecia here:

About

Rogaine has benefited a lot since since the class-action suit against Merck was filed. Briggs reports that their sales have increased a great deal because of the negative press.“I think when something like this happens people start to get worried and they flock to other products. Most people flocked to Rogaine instead of natural treatments.”
