The Karate Theme
The hero of many TV shows and movies is the martial arts master who can kill with his bare hands. Many young boys grew up watching these shows and fantasizing about being those martial arts experts. The Historical Superhero
Historical men’s costumes usually focus on the warrior as a superhero. The Vikings of the north with their horned helmets and valkyrie weapons cut quite an imposing figure. Roman gladiators, the subject of many recent movies, seem to be larger than life with their propensity for hand to hand combat. Medieval knights are another popular theme. Their armor, steel shields and long swords are very impressive at any costume party. All of these superhero costumes are guaranteed to get the girl in the end.
The Movies and Comic Books
The most popular of the superhero costumes are those that come from the comic books and movies. The more traditional Superman, Batman and Robin, and Spiderman are quite popular, especially the costume that is a replica of the most recent Batman movies as well as the dark Spiderman. Finally one of the most colorful and irreverent superheroes of today is Hellboy. While not the typical handsome gentlemanly superhero, he is nevertheless becoming a very popular costume choice.
Other Superheroes
Superheroes were also portrayed in novels and were later depicted on the silver screen. One of these heroes is Aragorn of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Another popular superhero from the written word is Zorro. With his black cape, mask, and whip he is a very dashing and mysterious man. This makes the costume quite popular with the ladies. Then there are the more comical superhero costumes such as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle and Nacho Libre. These costumes are meant to be fun and funny and are always good for a laugh.
