Many women shy away from facial surgery for a number of reasons. Whether they are not quite ready to commit to surgery or don't feel they need facial surgery there are alternatives. "Gone are the days of extreme facelifts and signature "overdone" looks," says Dr. Rhee, "Women don't want to change their appearance- they want to enhance it." Dr. Rhee's practice offers injectable filler treatments, which help women look and feel their best.
Juvéderm is an injectable gel that gently reverses many signs of aging in the face, including fine lines and wrinkles, crow's feet, thinning lips and loosening skin. It can also "plump up" the lips, sculpt the cheeks, and restore a youthful oval shape to the face. It is made with hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found in the body that works with collagen and elastin to give volume and support to the skin.
Because it is non-animal-based and highly biocompatible, no pre-treatment testing is needed. Juvéderm comes in three formulas optimized for the depth of the area being treated. Results last about 6-9 months and can be made to last even longer with a simple follow-up treatment within a few weeks of treatment.
"I am also getting more and more requests for the filler, Restylane," Dr. Rhee continues, "As we age, our skin loses its elasticity and as a result, it becomes drier, and much thinner. Restylane helps boost the skin's natural production of collagen, which adds volume to skin and smoothes out wrinkles, and aging lines. Like Juvederm, it is made of hyaluronic acids. My patients love that this treatment revitalizes skin by stimulating a natural process, and that it offers such natural-looking results. They also love that it can be done in just 30 minutes."
Dr. Rhee adds that Restylane injections do not require a long recovery period, and have few side effects. Results usually last up to 6 months, although patients may choose to have follow-up treatments to maintain results longer.
"BOTOX Cosmetic is still among the most popular cosmetic treatments available today," Dr. Rhee says, "It is minimally invasive, requires little to no downtime, and is very effective. My patients have reported results lasting for up to 4 months." BOTOX is an FDA-approved botulinum toxin, used to treat the appearance of moderate to severe wrinkles, lines, and crow's feet, which make us, look older. It is injected into targeted areas on the skin using a fine needle.
"When seeking BOTOX, Restylane, or Juvéderm, be sure that you consult an experienced, board certified doctor," Dr. Rhee says, "While effective in restoring a more youthful appearance, these treatments cannot stop the aging process, so patients should have realistic expectations concerning the outcome. I encourage all interested patients to contact us and find out more about the benefits and effectiveness of these three procedures."
