Some common side-effects associated with BOTOX® include temporary bruising, swelling, redness, and nausea. Patients can return to their normal activities almost immediately following the procedure.
While BOTOX® injections are safe, as well as quick, Dr. Ragi notes that not everyone is an ideal candidate for the procedure. Patients who are pregnant, nursing, or who have any kind of skin inflammation or infection should not be injected with BOTOX®. The best candidates for BOTOX® are otherwise healthy patients who wish to correct the appearance of unwanted wrinkles or lines, and who have realistic expectations about what the treatment can do for them.
Dr. Ragi adds that BOTOX® is not a permanent solution for wrinkles. Patients will likely need additional injections in 3 to 6 months in order to maintain their results.
