Royal Lahaina is a popular resort on Kaanapali Beach - a yellow-sand beach that spans much of the West side of Maui. The Resort is located in the town of Lahaina, which was once a major whaling port and one of Hawaii's key economic engines throughout the 19th century. When the Hawaiian whaling industry entered a period of decline in the 20th century, Lahaina found a renaissance as a desirable hub for hospitality and tourism, and has once again become the center of economic activity in West Maui.
Royal Lahaina was one of the first major resorts to open in town, being in operation since the 1960s; this has allowed the resort to have its pick of beach-front real estate, as well as grounds that span 27 acres of gardens and resort facilities.
In addition to offering hospitality services, Royal Lahaina Resort also writes and publishes informational materials, lists of tips and vacationing suggestions for both current and prospective visitors. These articles cover a wide range of information, ranging from packing advice for a Maui family vacation, to lists of the best Maui romantic spots for honeymooning couples, to articles covering the best season and locations for whale-spotting.
The latest informational article contains suggestions for finding and recovering a lost camera on Maui. When a visitor discovered that their camera was lost or stolen, traditional approaches were usually limited to filing reports and scouring lost-and found bins. However, modern technology has made it possible to track down a digital camera in a number of more sophisticated ways.
A number of lost-and-found sites have recently cropped up to help reunite found cameras with their owners, using a combination of traditional message board posts and amateur Internet detective work. A typical approach by enthusiasts is to examine the photos on the camera and try to deduce the owner's origin and location from circumstantial evidence. Some of the helpful software tools commonly used in this effort are EXIF extractors - programs that can extract a photograph's meta-data, such as information on the date and time the picture was taken.
The article continues to discuss various methods of tracking down lost cameras, some of the sites devoted to returning lost cameras, and suggestions on how to prevent loss in the first place. Visitors can read the full article on the official Royal Lahaina website.

About
The article is called “You Haven't Been To Hawaii If You Haven't Been To a Luau!” and it charts the history of the luau—from its beginnings to the celebrations often held to this day. One of the topics the article covers is all of the different types of food found at a luau. This section was included to show that while the modern luau has changed much from early days there are still familiar dishes available that are prepared in the classic way.
