"Google forms an important part of our over-arching online expansion plans to further improve our online presence, profile and the volume of leads we generate across all aspects of the business."
Countrywide, the UK's largest estate agency and property service Group, has become one of the first agents in the country to list its properties on the new Google Maps property search feature.
The tie-up between Countrywide and Google will further extend Countrywide's online presence and help its network of 1,200 offices reach the growing number of buyers, sellers, tenants and landlords using the internet to make their next move.
The announcement forms an important part of Countrywide's online development, which has been focused on improving the websites for its 42 leading high street brands, maximising its portal coverage and building on the success of Propertywide.co.uk, which became the fourth most visited estate agency website within six months of launch last year.
Confirming the news, Grenville Turner, Countrywide Chief Executive said: 'As industry leaders we recognise the potential Google offers our network and view this agreement as the latest milestone in our online strategy. We are delighted to be one of the first estate agency groups in the UK to feature our properties on Google Maps and our customers now have an even greater platform to market their homes to the widest online audience.'
Matthew Hewitt, Marketing Operations Director, said: 'Google forms an important part of our over-arching online expansion plans to further improve our online presence, profile and the volume of leads we generate across all aspects of the business.'
The news coincides with several key developments on Propertywide, Countrywide's latest online innovation. The website provides a unique single platform for Countrywide's properties and services, with dedicated sections on estate agency, lettings, surveying, conveyancing, mortgage and insurance services.
Propertywide hosted its first national sales and lettings campaign this month, listing in excess of 15,000 properties to promote the UK's largest Open House weekend, which was held on 4th and 5th June. Some of Propertywide's latest developments include:
* Improved usability following extensive customer research
* New improvements to Propertywide's interactive maps, with satellite, aerial and bird's eye view.
* New updates to the free guides for home movers written by industry professionals
* Indicative mortgage calculator – find a property and calculate its estimated mortgage repayments
* New mapping technology – visitors can now view key points of interests and local amenities, such as schools and train stations.
* Utility advice for home movers – find the best offers and save thousands by shopping around for the latest gas and electricity providers in your area
* Price reduction 'flags' to highlight recent property price reductions
* Revamped 'Chain free listings' for motivated buyers and sellers
