Review of the Summer 2010 Taster Day Leading People Through Change, Motivating & Engaging Them.

Focus Experiential Training run FREE Taster Days every season. We specifically choose topics on the basis of requests and conversations with new and regular clients, current events that impact on people and the workplace, and to keep you updated with the latest cutting-edge training tools and techniques.

This month we focused the FREE Summer Taster Day on helping managers to re-engage, motivate and raise the morale of their teams, leading them through the change curve to improved motivation resulting in elevated productivity. The day also provided opportunity for HR professionals to network and share the issues they have faced and solutions that have worked over the past few months.

What did our visitors think?

Its always very important to us to know what our guests think of our taster days. Not just that they enjoyed it but that they have been able to take away their own useful learning points, helping them to re-evaluate the way they do things at work. Along with comments such as: Really nice Training Manner! Thank you for a fun day! we are delighted to hear that the day has been thought provoking and that our clients can see great benefit in several of your products. Were also very pleased to see that 92% of the delegates rated both our trainers and the standard of the lunch as 'very good' or 'excellent'. If you want to know what our clients think of the standard of our training, and who we work with, please have a look at our client and testimonial page.

What did the day involve?

We welcomed our visitors from 9:30am with a delicious bacon sandwich or vegetarian alternative, freshly prepared by our on-site chef, and a hot beverage. There was time to enjoy the beautiful countryside of Clough Bottom, where the Focus Training Centre is based before the event began at 10am, but our guests arrived a little earlier and were able to network and relax in the beautiful converted 16th century training barn before the day started.

We gave a brief introduction to Focus Training explaining how we can help with your training needs, and then focused on the theme of the day Leading People out of Change. We’ve had a difficult time with the economy recently and obviously this has affected our people and teams. We looked at how this impacted on the workplace and where our teams were positioned along the change curve. The traditional hamburger model was examined and we discussed how simply working in task and process without considering the culture can cause motivational problems. We discussed how we can avoid this and instead create solutions which motivate our teams and lead them through the change curve.

To bring the theory to life we went out into the sunshine to get involved in the experiential challenges and review the learning points against the mornings session. Finally we looked at how it all could be linked back to work and practically applied. One of our guests described this part of the day as, Thought provoking, well organised and fun!

After the morning activity our guests were ready for their hot farmhouse-fayre style lunch, served back in the training barn. Our eagerly anticipated two-course lunches often receive high praise! Local is clearly better stated one guest on his evaluation form who gave his meal a tick in the excellent box.

The lovely weather gave the group inspiration to go back outside and get involved in activities in the woods. The guests had the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful 360 acre organic farm and be the first to experience one of Focus brand-new activities. We know that keeping things fresh, aid learning, so for regular attendees on taster days and courses, there’s always a new activity to experience and new learning points to discover.

Before the guest left at 3:30pm promptly to miss the traffic, we equipped everyone with details about the short courses we have available. These courses are templates which can help you to manage change, and re-engage and motivate your people and teams following the change. Also, as most of our work is bespoke, we can design the workshop content around your specific needs to create the outcomes your business requires. Please ask for details! Many of our clients work in partnership with us. In this relationship we can help to ensure that your team experience the learning they deserve and develop new skills that can help them work efficiently through change and beyond.

I’m interested in attending the Autumn Taster Day how do I find out about it?

We organise seasonal taster days, and we’d love to welcome you to our next one. Please Watch this space or check our blog regularly to learn when well be running the next event. It is likely to be September or October.
