As part of a car’s exterior, great lengths are taken by a car owner in taking good care of the windshield. However, there are unforeseen instances wherein it is damaged like getting hit by a rock or by any hard falling debris. No matter how a car owner tries to take care of the windshield, accidents do happen. When the windshield is damaged, there are three options that the car owner can choose from. He is left with windshield repair, windshield replacement, or inaction. Yes, a car owner may leave the cracked windshield as is. But evidently, this is not a wise means of action. For starters, windshield repair can only be taken as a course of action in fixing a cracked windshield when the crack is smaller than six inches. Anything larger than that specific size can no longer be repaired, which means that the entire windshield will have to be replaced. Hence, it is obvious enough that windshield repair is the cheaper option between the two. If the car owner is a frugal person, he can repair the cracked windshield on his own. There are available repair kits for sale. However, there is a huge disadvantage to this do-it-yourself method of fixing a cracked windshield. Glass is brittle material and a cracked windshield is very delicate to lay a hand on. If the person trying to repair it has no good mechanical skills, he may further fracture the windshield or hurt himself, thus rendering the repair a failure.

It normally takes 30 minutes for a windshield repair service. All the car owner has to do is pay the fee and voila the windshield is back to normal.
If the crack on the windshield is larger than six inches, windshield replacement is necessary. With this process, there is no do-it-yourself kit. The car must be serviced by an auto glass replacement company. However, the car owner with a badly damaged windshield need not drive the car all the way to the auto glass replacement shop. These companies normally have an available mobile service wherein their technicians will go to your house, business site, or wherever the car is located to do the windshield replacement. It is therefore safe and convenient on the part of the car owner. This is also the more expensive option since it requires not just the use of resin to fill up the cracks as done in windshield repair but a total change of windshield altogether.
But to avoid this more expensive option, car owners must immediately have their cracked windshields—when the crack is still small and serviceable undergo a windshield repair before the damage expands and the pockets go lighter.
