The UK-based travel-planning company I Wish Travel has further improved on their website, iwishgapyear.com, to promote its capacity to offer travel opportunities and advice for visitors. The site focuses on Volunteering Abroad, Working Abroad and Learning Abroad Opportunities for a Gap Year.
Gap Year is a travel-planning website self-described as "a Gap Year website with information on volunteering, working and learning abroad." It offers pre-planned opportunities from various quality Gap Year Providers, in addition to providing visitors with "Gap Year Guides" about various countries and general travel advice.
The website was launched in October 2009 by the founder of I Wish Travel, Oliver Gradwell. Gradwell, who holds a Bachelor of Arts Honors from the University of Central Lancashire, has over ten years of travel and gap year industry experience.
"I wanted the site to be clear, easy to use, informative, and reliable," Gradwell said.
"I will only work with high quality, reputable Gap Year providers. So people know when they use our website in good faith, that I would recommend these companies."
In addition to offering its own recommendations, Gap Year has collaborated with other gap year providers, such as African Conservation Experience, Azafady, Changing Worlds, Gap Year South Africa, Lattitude Global Volunteering, The Leap, Projects Abroad, Oyster, Think Pacific, and Travellers Worldwide, to introduce even more travel, volunteer and work abroad opportunities to its visitors. With these partnerships, I Wish Gap Year is able to provide many diverse programs to potential travelers.
The range of travel opportunities offered by Gap Year is expansive, ranging from rainforest conservation in Peru to cricket coaching in New Zealand, and much more. Visitors to iwishgapyear.com can choose from a variety of destinations for volunteering, working, and traveling abroad.
For volunteering abroad, categories for travel opportunities include agriculture; animal conservation; archaeology; art, drama and music; childcare; community and development; environmental conservation; healthcare; informational technology (IT); marine conservation; sports coaching; teaching; and veterinary. For working abroad, categories to choose from include architecture; agriculture; business; design; festivals and events; healthcare; hospitality; law; marketing; media and journalism; sports management; and tourism. And for learning opportunities, the categories for visitors to choose from include aircraft; art, drama and music; instruction for water sports or winter sports; languages; photography; and sport.
Gap Year is also very present on the web through Twitter and its blog, which are both accessible through the website. Through these social outlets, Gap Year provides links to articles of interest on prospective travel spots for visitors, details popular travel spots with its "Friday Feature," and spotlights other avid traveler’s blogs.
Volunteering abroad is the best option for meaningful work and vacations for social causes anywhere. While some overseas projects cover volunteer teaching placements and volunteer marine conservation for community development overseas.
