Drs. Gloria & Heidi Horsley on their nationally syndicated talk radio programs the CBS affiliated - Open To Hope Show” and Healing the Grieving Heart www.thegriefblog.com will announce their plans to present at ADEC.
The Open to Hope Foundation proposal was accepted on behalf of the Association for Death Education and Counseling's 32nd Annual Conference to be held April 7-10, 2010 at the Hyatt Regency Crown Center, Kansas City, Missouri, USA. Dr. Gloria and Dr. Heidi will present on Finding Hope and Happiness After Loss on Friday, April 9, 2009 at 10:15 a.m. - 11:15 a.m.
We are excited to announce that we have been selected to participate in ADEC’s annual conference. This is a wonderful opportunity to bring valuable information and research on finding hope after loss to the professional community who in turn can bring it to the grieving public commented Dr. Gloria Horsley. This workshop will provide participants with inspiring stories, coping skills, and tools which address various ways to heal after loss. We don’t want to just survive a loss, we want to eventually go onto thrive and live a life once again filled with joy, while at the same time continuing bonds with those who have died. Dr. Heidi Horsley, PsyD, MSW, MS, is a bereaved sibling and a licensed psychologist and social worker. Dr. Heidi is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Open to Hope Foundation and an adjunct professor at Columbia University. She has a private practice in Manhattan, NY specializing in grief and loss. She is also author of “Teen Grief Relief” and “Real Men Do Cry”. She holds graduate degrees from the University of San Francisco, Columbia University, and Loyola University.
About Dr. Gloria Horsley
Dr. Gloria C. Horsley, PHD, MFT, CNS, is a bereaved parent, and has worked in the field of family therapy for over twenty years. Dr. Gloria is Founder and President of the Open to Hope Foundation. She serves The Compassionate Friends in a number of roles, including as a Board Director and frequently serves as a media spokesperson in her dual role as a bereaved parent and professional. She is co-author of “Teen Grief Relief” and “Real Men Do Cry.” She holds graduate degrees from the University of Rochester, Syracuse, Greenwich and Holos Universities.
