The Detroit chapter of TiE (Talent, Ideas, Enterprise) announced today that Sandy K. Baruah, will provide a keynote address at TiECon Midwest 2010, Michigan’s Largest Conference on entrepreneurship to be held October 28 and 29, 2010 at The Henry, Dearborn.
TiECon Midwest 2010 brings together world-class entrepreneurs and leaders from business, technology, venture capital, and media for two days of education, networking and business building. TiECon Midwest 2010 theme; Business Karma 3.0- Create. Connect. Collaborate, focuses on holistically integrating all business levels to help entrepreneurs at all stages, from those in the planning phase to startups and emerging companies.

Sandy K. Baruah currently serves as the President and CEO of the Detroit Regional Chamber, the largest local chamber of commerce in the United States. From 2008-2009 he led the United States Small Business Administration (SBA), reporting directly to the President of the United States. In this role Baruah was responsible for SBA's $18 billion small business loan portfolio, helping to shape the federal governance response to the 2008 credit crisis and supporting the government's efforts to provide assistance to the automotive industry. Baruah also served as the U.S. Assistant Secretary of Commerce with the responsibility of leading the Economic Development Administration. He is credited with helping to transform the agency into one of the top-performing federal agencies.
TiECon 2010 Midwest also features various activities including Extreme Power Connect, TiE 20 awards, keynote speakers from numerous organizations and the annual Business Plan Competition. The conference also highlights four sessions based on a mixture of content areas which includes Information Technology, Health Care, Women’s Forum, Global Transactions and Emerging Trends. TiECon 2010 is also hosting TiE20 Midwest Awards which will showcase an elite group of Top 20 of the most promising startup and emerging companies across four major focus segments - Internet, Software, Mobile and Media.
