UK,(Kent) Hythe 25th Sept 2010- Last week was national Cupcake day and to celebrate this ‘sweet’ day, the Aspinall Foundation encouraged members of the public to help raise funds by launching a cupcake challenge to help raise money for endangered wildlife.

The charity that helps to conserve wildlife has sister partnerships far and wide in Africa and Madagascar as well as two wild animal parks in Kent. TAF as it is affectionately known does its upmost to protect species that are vulnerable and classed as high risk with the hope to re-introduce them back into the wild once cared for at the wild animal parks in Kent: Howletts and Port Lympne.

To launch the exciting challenge last week, The Aspinall Foundation baked one of their animals, Etna a 17 year old Black Rhino a ‘sugar-free’ rhino friendly cupcake with extra carrot, her favourite topping! Sarah Tite, a spokesperson for TAF was quoted “As one of the rarest species at the park Etna the rhino made a perfect poster child to launch the campaign. By taking part in the challenge you will be helping us to protect animals like Etna before it is too late.”

To help the charity, famous cake makers Magnolia Bakery that provided Carrie and the girls their favourite cupcakes in Sex and the City supported the efforts by providing top class recipes and tips for those wanting to participate.

The official cupcake challenge season is 18th - 31st October and is sure to create a creamy and sweet storm with lots of keen participants eager to get their recipes heard, especially Halloween themed treats.

The Aspinall Wild Animal Charity first opened its doors in 1975 and has a clear mission to breed rare and endangered species that they will eventually return to the wild. Through the creation of the wild animal Parks in Kent and a dedicated number of staff on hand that work with the endangered species, The Aspinall Foundation will help give back endangered species a happier life.
