Financial organisations across the UK are making headlines yet again for a record number of complaints from disgruntled customers receiving shocking customer care. The number of complaints escalated to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) rose to 84,000 for the first half of the year.
Unsurprisingly, Payment Protection Insurance (PPI) claims were the highest area of complaints. The rise is attributed to growing consumer awareness as to the scale of PPI mis-selling, and increasing customer knowledge as to their rights to make a claim for mis-sold PPI.
